Reviewing Pipeline nomination planning¶
The Pipeline Nomination Planning screen is a consolidated planning and reconciliation workspace in nGenue that brings together operational data from multiple upstream configuration and transactional screens. Its primary objective is to provide a single source of truth for pre-nomination balancing by aggregating supply, demand, storage, pooling, interconnect, and imbalance data.
This screen does not create nominations directly. Instead, it enables users to:
- Analyze planned supply and demand
- Validate physical pipeline balance
- Identify long or short positions
- Prepare trader intent for nomination execution
All data displayed in this screen is derived, not manually entered here. Each section pulls its data from specific nGenue modules, which are detailed below.
Prerequisites¶
Before accessing the Pipeline Nomination Planning screen, ensure the following prerequisites are met:
- The user has view or modify permissions for Pipeline Nomination Planning screen.
- Pipeline is active and configured.
- Transport, storage, pooling, and PAL contracts exist.
- Deals (purchase and sales) are available.
- Interconnects and receipt/delivery points are defined.
Procedure to review pipeline nomination planning¶
Step 1: Navigate to the Pipeline Nomination Planning screen¶
- Log in to the nGenue application.
- Click Search and enter Pipeline nomination in the search bar.
- Double-click Pipeline Nomination Planning to open the Pipeline Nomination Planning (Pipeline Operations) screen.
-
The screen is divided into four primary sections:
- Nomination Settings (Top panel)
- Planned Supply Side (Left panel)
- Physical Position (Center panel)
- Planned Demand Side (Right panel)
Each section contributes to calculating and validating the net pipeline position.
Nomination Settings¶
The Nomination Settings section controls the scope of data aggregation. Key fields are:
- As of date: Defines the days for which all volumes are evaluated. All contract, deal, storage, and pooling data is filtered based on this date. This date is used as the nomination effective date during planning.
- Pipeline (required): Determines which pipeline’s operational data is pulled. All downstream queries are scoped strictly to this pipeline.
- Zone: Limits planning to a specific pipeline zone. Zone definitions are sourced from Pipeline Configuration screen.
-
External / internal legal entity and business unit: Filters deals, contracts, and storage activity based on ownership and responsibility. These values map directly to:
- Deal Management
- Pipeline Contract ownership
- Storage Contract ownership
-
Click Execute planning query to executes all downstream queries simultaneously.
Planned Supply Side¶
The Planned Supply Side represents all gas expected to enter the pipeline on the selected gas day. This section shows commercial supply contracts where gas is purchased and delivered into the pipeline.
Data source
- Deal Management → Purchase Deals
- Only active, effective deals for the selected date are included.
Key points
- Volumes reflect deal-level planned quantities, not scheduled nominations.
- Receipt locations are validated against pipeline receipt points.
- Fuel and loss are not netted here — this is gross supply.
Planned storage contract withdrawals¶
This section displays planned withdrawals from storage facilities that will inject gas into the pipeline. Storage withdrawals act as physical supply, increasing available pipeline volume and directly impacting the Physical Position. The details are fetched from the Pipeline Contracts screen.
Planned PAL contract withdrawals¶
Withdrawals from PAL agreements where gas is being returned to the pipeline. Treated as supply, similar to storage withdrawals. The details are fetched from the Park and Loan (PAL) contracts screen.
Pool withdrawals¶
This section displays planned withdrawals from storage facilities that will inject gas into the pipeline. Storage withdrawals act as physical supply, increasing available pipeline volume and directly impacting the Physical Position. The details are fetched from the Pipeline Contracts screen.
Interconnect withdrawals¶
This section displays planned withdrawals from storage facilities that will inject gas into the pipeline. Storage withdrawals act as physical supply, increasing available pipeline volume and directly impacting the Physical Position. The details are fetched from the PZL screen screen.
Imbalances – long¶
This section displays planned withdrawals from storage facilities that will inject gas into the pipeline. Storage withdrawals act as physical supply, increasing available pipeline volume and directly impacting the Physical Position. The details are fetched from the PZL screen screen.
Planned Demand Side¶
The Planned Demand Side represents all gas expected to enter the pipeline on the selected gas day.
Physical position¶
Physical Position represents the net balance of gas on the pipeline, calculated as:
Total Supply
– Total Demand
± Storage activity
± Pooling activity
± Interconnect flows
± Imbalances
= Net Physical Position
This section does not simply display totals — it represents the net operational feasibility of the pipeline for the selected gas day.
Summary¶
Pipeline Nomination Planning screen is the operational nerve center for pre-nomination analysis in nGenue. By consolidating data from pipeline contracts, storage, pooling, interconnects, and deals, it enables users to validate physical feasibility and proactively resolve imbalances before nominations are created and submitted.
