Review rate audit logs¶
The Rate Audit Logs screen is used to review and audit historical changes made to pipeline rate configurations. This screen provides a detailed, read-only log of rate schedule changes, charge updates, effective date modifications, and rate type transitions, enabling traceability and compliance verification.
It is primarily used for audit review, regulatory support, billing validation, and troubleshooting rate-related discrepancies.
Prerequisites¶
Before working with the Rate Audit Logs screen, ensure the following prerequisites are met:
- The user has add or modify permissions for the Rate Audit Logs screen.
- The pipeline is configured and active.
- Rate schedules and charge types exist for the pipeline.
- Historical rate changes are available for the selected criteria.
Procedure to review rate audit logs¶
Step 1: Navigate to the Rate Audit Logs screen¶
- Log in to the nGenue application.
- Use the Search icon and enter Audit Logs in the search bar.
- Double-click Rate Audit Logs to open the Rate Audit Logs (Pipeline Operations) screen.
- The screen is divided into two main sections:
- Filter Rate Audit – Used to define search criteria.
- Rate Audit Log – Displays the audit results.
Step 2: Define rate audit filter criteria¶
-
Use the Filter Rate Audit section to control which audit records are displayed.
Fields Description Pipeline (Required) Selects the pipeline for which rate audit history is retrieved. This field is mandatory and determines the scope of all audit records displayed, ensuring that rate changes are reviewed within the correct pipeline context. Rate Schedule Filters audit logs by a specific rate schedule configured for the selected pipeline. This helps narrow down audit records when multiple rate schedules exist for the same pipeline. Charge Type Filters audit records based on the type of charge impacted by the change, such as demand, commodity, fuel, or surcharge. This is useful for isolating charge-specific rate changes during audits or billing investigations. Contract Types Filters audit records by contract type, such as transportation or storage-related contracts. This allows users to focus on rate changes that apply only to specific contractual arrangements. Start / End Date Limits audit results to rate changes that occurred within the specified date range. This is commonly used for period-based audits, regulatory reviews, or billing cycle validations. Deal ID Filters audit logs to display rate changes associated with a specific deal. This is particularly useful when investigating billing discrepancies or validating rate application for a single deal.
Step 3: Review rate audit log details¶
-
The Rate Audit Log section displays the historical rate change records in a grid format. Each row represents a single rate-related change event.
Fields Description Pipeline Charge Change Log ID System-generated unique identifier for the rate change event. This ID is used for audit tracking, troubleshooting, and cross-referencing related rate modifications within the system. Type Indicates the type of change performed on the rate configuration, such as rate creation, modification, or effective date update. This helps users quickly understand the nature of the audit record. ID Internal system identifier associated with the specific rate or charge record that was modified. This field supports traceability and internal reference. New Start Date Displays the updated effective start date after the rate change was applied. This determines when the new rate becomes applicable for billing and settlement. New End Date Displays the updated effective end date after the change. This defines the validity period of the new rate configuration. Old Start Date Shows the original effective start date before the rate change occurred, enabling comparison against the updated configuration. Old End Date Shows the original effective end date prior to the change, supporting before-and-after validation of rate periods. Pipeline Identifies the pipeline to which the rate change applies, ensuring clarity when reviewing audit records across multiple pipelines. Rate Schedule Displays the rate schedule that was impacted by the change. This helps users confirm which pricing structure was modified. Charge Type Indicates the specific charge type affected by the rate change, such as demand, commodity, or surcharge, providing clarity on billing impact. Old Peak Rate Displays the peak rate value prior to the change. This value is used for historical comparison and audit verification. Old Off Peak Rate Displays the off-peak rate value before the change, supporting validation of time-based pricing adjustments. New Peak Rate Displays the updated peak rate value after the change, which will be applied to billing and settlement going forward. New Off Peak Rate Displays the updated off-peak rate value after the change, reflecting the current configured pricing. Old Rate Path Type Shows the previous rate path type configuration before the update, such as fixed or variable rate paths. New Rate Path Type Displays the updated rate path type after the change, indicating how the rate is now applied across paths or tiers. Old Rate Type Indicates the rate type prior to the change, such as fixed or indexed, enabling audit comparison. New Rate Type Indicates the updated rate type after the change, confirming how the rate is currently classified and applied.
This grid provides a complete before-and-after comparison, supporting audit, reconciliation, and regulatory review needs.
