Reviewing Gas Accrual results¶
The Gas Accrual screen is used to calculate and review daily and monthly gas receipt, burn, and fuel loss data for a specific pipeline. It helps operators and schedulers determine daily imbalances, monitor receipt volumes, and assess the efficiency of gas movement through a pipeline for the selected period.
The primary purpose of the Gas Accrual functionality is to:
- Track daily gas receipts and deliveries.
- Measure total burn and fuel consumption by pipeline.
- Calculate average burn rates and total losses.
- Identify daily imbalances between receipts and consumption.
- Support operational and accounting reconciliation of transported gas.
Prerequisites¶
Before accessing the Gas Accrual screen, ensure the following prerequisites are met:
- The user has valid credentials and the necessary permissions to access the Gas Accrual (Pipeline Scheduling) screen.
- The Pipeline is configured in the Pipeline-Zone-Location (PZL) screen.
- Transportation contracts and daily nominations are defined and active for the selected pipeline.
- Daily operational data (receipt and burn) is available for the selected month and year.
Procedure to configure Gas Accrual¶
Step 1: Navigate to the Gas Accrual screen¶
- Log in to the nGenue application.
- Click the Search icon and enter Gas Accrual in the search bar.
-
Double-click Gas Accrual to open the respective screen.
-
The Gas Accrual (Pipeline Scheduling) screen is divided into two main sections:
-
Gas Accrual Query: Allows users to define filters and load data for a specific month, year, and pipeline. The followig filters are available:
Fields Description Month Displays the month for which the gas accrual data should be viewed. The dropdown includes all 12 calendar months. Year Displays the year corresponding to the selected month. This field is typically pre-populated with the current year but can be changed. Pipeline (Required) Displays all pipelines configured in the system. This is a mandatory field. The list of pipelines is fetched from the Pipeline-Zone-Location (PZL) configuration. Load Loads the gas accrual data for the selected pipeline, month, and year into the Gas Accrual Results section. The system fetches daily data from operational logs and nominations for the given period. -
Gas Accrual Results: The Gas Accrual Results section displays daily gas receipt, burn, fuel losses, and imbalance data once the projection is loaded.
Fields Description Date Displays the transaction date for which the gas accrual record is available. Each date represents a day within the selected month. Total Rec Displays the total receipt quantity (in MMBtu or Dth) received into the pipeline system on the selected date. Total Burn Displays the total gas volume burned for compressor fuel and operational requirements on that day. Total Fuel Displays the total fuel loss calculated for the day. This value typically represents the gas consumed internally within the pipeline system. Avg Rate Displays the average fuel burn rate or loss rate for the selected day. Calculated as (Total Fuel ÷ Total Receipt) × 100. Daily Imbalance Displays the difference between total receipts and total consumption (burn + fuel losses). A positive value indicates excess receipt; a negative value indicates an imbalance or shortfall.
This data provides operational insight into how much gas is received, consumed (burned), and lost as fuel during transportation.
-
Step 2: Load and view data¶
-
In the Gas Accrual Query section:
- Select the Month and Year.
- Choose the Pipeline from the dropdown list.
-
Click Load.
-
The system fetches the gas accrual data for the selected pipeline and displays it under Gas Accrual Results section.
-
Review the following:
- Daily receipt and fuel data under Receipt Quantity.
- Burn and loss data under Fuel Losses.
- Any imbalance displayed in Daily Imbalance.
If there is no available data for the selected period, the message “No data to display” appears in the results grid.
Key points to remember¶
- The Pipeline field is mandatory to execute the query.
- The Gas Accrual Results grid is read-only; data is populated automatically from operational and scheduling records.
- Fuel loss and imbalance data are derived from pipeline-level calculations and cannot be edited directly.
- Ensure that all daily nominations and meter readings are finalized before running the accrual process to prevent incomplete reporting.
- Gas accrual data supports financial accruals, imbalance tracking, and regulatory reporting.
Summary¶
The Gas Accrual (Pipeline Scheduling) screen provides an operational and analytical view of pipeline gas movements and losses for a defined month and pipeline. It enables schedulers, analysts, and accountants to:
- Review daily receipts, burns, and losses.
- Calculate average burn rates and daily imbalances.
- Export accrual data for month-end closing and reporting.
